Busting all Wallpaper Myths

Wallpapers are the most practical solution for an easy interiors makeover. Compared to paints, they are more durable and hassle free. Wallpaper dealers feel there are some common myths surrounding wallpapers which discourage many homeowners from using it.

Let’s take a closer look at the truth behind these myths.

1. Hanging wallpapers is time-consuming and labour-intensive

Putting up wallpapers is quicker than a paint job. Paint jobs take at least 4-5 days, whereas a home can be wallpapered within just a day. Hanging wallpapers is easier and involves less hassle. Non-woven wallpapers are the most easy to hang. These wallpapers do not expand or contract, so there is no need of ‘booking’ the wallpaper, or folding it for a few minutes to let it expand. And once, the wallpaper is installed, there are no hidden flaws, as the seams won’t ever separate.

2. Wallpapers are difficult to remove

Most wallpaper dealers nowadays provide high-quality adhesive that does not leave any residue on the walls. So, you can easily remove your wallpapers if and when needed. Non-woven and vinyl wallpapers are the easiest kind to remove.

3. Cannot be used in Kitchen

Many homeowners feel that wallpapers cannot be used in areas which are prone to occasional water splashes. But wallpapers with vinyl backing are ideal for use in the kitchen. The vinyl coating gives a layer of protection, making them moisture-resistant. They are also washable, which makes them easy to clean and keeps your kitchen walls new and shining. Moreover, using wallpapers in the kitchen can mimic different surfaces like tile, stone or metal designed to complement the cabinetry and appliances. So, they will complement the interiors of your kitchen.

4. Wallpapers are not eco friendly

Wallpapers are typically made of paper which is renewable and biodegradable. Wallpaper dealers also offer wallcovering options made of grass, rice, or cork. The ink used for printing is also water-based with extremely low V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions. Thus, wallpapers are an eco-friendly alternative to paints.
